River

Posted: under Life, Local, Weather.

With all the rain we have had this spring the Cumberland River is filled to the rim. I have only seen the river this high once in the 10 years I have been here and that was a flood that flooded lower Broadway about 9 years ago, I remember the Budweiser truck floating down the river, I guess the fish were going to have a party and got them a beer truck. It was kind of funny, we saw the report of the beer truck floating down the river and went down to see it for ourselves. Let us hope it does not get that high this time.

Early spring

Posted: under Local, Weather.

Today the ground hog Punxsutawney Phil looks for his shadow, if he sees his shadow we have six more weeks of winter and if not we will have an early spring, I am holding out for an early spring this year. Last year he predicted a long winter and he was right lets hope he says an early spring this year, I have had about all the wet and cold I can handle for one year, it has been one cold snap right after another this winter. No snow but a lot of rain and some sleet. Not to bad a winter over all I guess.

Cold night

Posted: under Life, Local, Weather.

Tonight will be the coldest night of the fall season under freezing for the first time this fall. I will have to bring in a few of the less hardy plants from the porch tonight and the next couple of nights as well. It seems that winter is knocking at our door steps. I am not ready for cold weather I have to dig out my cold weather stuff for work I have no gloves, well let me restate that I have 9 right handed gloves and for some reason zero left handed gloves I guess I can keep one hand warm it will have to be my right hand. I think I will take tonight off and sleep through the worst of the first real cold night.

Summer time

Posted: under Local, Outdoors, Weather.

Man I do love the summers in Nashville Tennessee, the weather is just right not to hot just a touch of humidity and enough rain most years to keep everything green and growing. I had enough of the dry heat in Arizona, when it hits over 110 degrees it is hot I do not care if it is dry or not, it got where I just could not even breath when it was that hot anymore and I had to move. I think I made a pretty dam good choice in moving to Nashville. I really love it here.

Lazy days

Posted: under Life, Pets, Weather.

As summer gets hotter and hotter it takes so much more energy to do even simple chores. The simple task of walking my dogs whom I love takes all my energy and some times has to wait until it cools off a bit before we can attack the world. Sitting on the couch watching a ball game took a super human effort last night as soon as the last out was made it was straight to bed for this tired old man. Good thing I am on vacation this week.
