Jumpy dog

I have one jumpy dog and it is because of all the fireworks that have been set off the last few days. Diva is a good dog she just hates fireworks and thunder, well you can add motorcycles to that growing list too. Anything that is loud or a strange sound sets her off and she is a bit jumpy and the loud noises set her off extra. I will be very glad when the fireworks and the thunder season is over maybe I can get some rest then. It is a lot quieter in the winter around here, then they set off fireworks for New Years Eve and that is a bad day for Diva too.

Anyone my age or even a bit older know that this refrence means the day that Buddy Holley died in his plane crash. I was deeply offended when the same refrence was used to announce the death of Michael Jackson. It was ruse to use this saying to tell the world that the so called king of pop died. I am not a Jackson fan and in no way want him lumped in with a true musical legend Buddy Holley.

River

With all the rain we have had this spring the Cumberland River is filled to the rim. I have only seen the river this high once in the 10 years I have been here and that was a flood that flooded lower Broadway about 9 years ago, I remember the Budweiser truck floating down the river, I guess the fish were going to have a party and got them a beer truck. It was kind of funny, we saw the report of the beer truck floating down the river and went down to see it for ourselves. Let us hope it does not get that high this time.

Hot hot hot

I have been working all week with no air conditioning in the truck, and it has got very hot and humid this week. As much as I get in and out of the truck it would not help a lot to have working air conditioning but it is something that I want. So the first of the week I plan to put the Tahoe in the shop to get the air conditioning fixed and that means I will have to drive the big van and I will not like that very much it has no air conditioning either and it is a mess to drive in traffic it is so big, but I will manage I always do.

Chores

On my first weekend with out having to work I was given a list of “chores” to do and I see no way I can finish this list before I turn 65 and get ready to retire. It is a shame to miss all this good golf and fishing weather with a damn list of stuff to do. I think I will wait one week to start this honey do list and get in some golf before she finds out I am gone and then maybe I can go fishing later on when it cools off a bit. Maybe a nap befre then will help my mind work better, ya a nap is on the agenda.

UPDATE: There was no nap and no golf and no fishing, she found me.

Upset

I am very upset that CBS has decided to cancel The Unit, it is one of the shows that I really like and I used to look forward to ending my week by watching this great show on Sunday Night. I hope another network will pick this great show up and keep us involved with the very good characters that are in the show. It seems that every time I find a show I like they cancel it and that is starting to make me very angry about it. I hope they never find out what other shows I like so they will not be compelled to cancel them too.

Swine flu

It looks like the swine flu outbreak is slowing down to a dull roar. I was very watchful and washed my hands more than ever before. We had a few cases here in Tennessee and it was very frightning to me, that a type of flu could be that life threatning and hard to contain. Let us hope that it does not change around and show back up this flu season stronger and even more deadly. I think it could creat mass koas if it does.

Foiled terror plot

Today they arrested four men in New York who planned to blow up a Jewish Synagogue and to shoot military aircraft out of the sky. It seems that we are still not safe from the plots of terrorists planning to kill Americans. Big kudos to the FBI for foiling this dangerous plot and getting these terrorists off the street. How long before all Americans are safe in their homes is the question I am asking myself today. Let us hope we get an answer to this important question very soon. The FBI is on top of a lot of these plots but it only takes one that is not foiled to kill us in our homes.

Trip to the shore

We have made plans to head to the Gulf Coast as soon as it is warm enough and get in some sand and sunshine, two things we really are lacking here in Nashville. We have a couple of places on Percy Priest Lake that have some sand but it is not the same thing. In addition we would like to take our 6 year old grandson the see the ocean he loves sharks and everything else in the ocean and I think he would love a trip to see it.

Sis is gettin old

My baby sister is getting older as we speak, today she turns 46 and it is driving her crazy. She has always though of herself as the baby of the family and aging is not a thing that she wants to do. I laugh as I turned 50 this year and that plateau was a tough one for me to endure. I hope the last part of my life goes as well as the first half. I plan to live long enough to be a burden on everyone I know. Well anyway Happy Birthday sis I hope you have a great day.
